FoodRadar Community Guidelines

Welcome to FoodRadar! We're building a community where neighbors help neighbors to find free food nearby. These guidelines help us create a space where everyone can access food information while treating each other with respect and kindness.

By joining FoodRadar, you're agreeing to be part of a community that values safety, accuracy, and respect. These guidelines work together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to keep our platform helpful for everyone.


1. What FoodRadar Is All About

FoodRadar is your community-powered guide to free food and resources. We provide the tools. You power the community.

HOW IT WORKS:

SEE WHAT'S NEARBY: Open the app to instantly see local free food locations and pantries on an interactive map.

CHECK FOR UPDATES: Tap any pin to see detailed info, hours, and any recent comments or status updates left by other users.

GET DIRECTIONS: Tap the address to get instant, step-by-step directions.

HELP YOUR NEIGHBORS: Arrived at a location? Be the first to share an update! Tap to report the status ("Still Serving," "Running Low," "All Out") or leave a helpful comment. Your simple action can save someone else a wasted trip.

A COMMUNITY, NOT JUST A MAP

FoodRadar is built on the power of "neighbors helping neighbors." Your update is the most valuable one—it starts the chain of information that helps everyone.


2. How to Be an Awesome Community Member

We encourage open and supportive discussion, but we expect all users to communicate respectfully.

Do not post content that:

  • Contains hate speech, discrimination, or harassment based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected categories.
  • Uses profanity, slurs, or abusive language.
  • Personally attacks, bullies, or threatens others.

Remember: every comment and share helps build the kind of community we all want to live in!


3. Accurate and Helpful Information

Our app depends on data about food resources.

Please:

  • Share only truthful and verifiable information about food distribution events or locations.
  • Avoid posting misleading, outdated, or promotional content.
  • Include clear details (e.g., time, location, eligibility) when sharing a food resource.

We reserve the right to remove content that is false, misleading, or unverifiable.


4. No Commercial or Solicitation Content

FoodRadar is not a marketing platform.

Please do not:

  • Advertise businesses, products, or paid services.
  • Solicit money, donations, or personal information from other users.
  • Post links or content primarily for commercial purposes.

5. Safety and Privacy

We take user safety seriously.

  • Do not post anyone's personal information (e.g., address, phone number, email) without their consent.
  • Do not impersonate others or create fake accounts.
  • Do not use the platform for illegal activities or scams.

If you believe your safety or privacy has been compromised, please report it immediately at feedback@ourblock.us.


6. Photos and Media

You may upload photos related to food distribution sites or events. However:

  • Only share images you have the right to post.
  • Do not upload identifiable photos of individuals without their consent.
  • Do not post graphic, violent, or offensive imagery.

7. Reporting and Enforcement

Users can report inappropriate content or behavior through the app or by emailing feedback@ourblock.us.

FoodRadar reserves the right to:

  • Remove content that violates these guidelines or our Terms of Use.
  • Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate policies.
  • Cooperate with authorities if illegal conduct is reported.

8. Community Responsibility

FoodRadar is a shared space for collaboration and care.

We encourage all users to:

  • Verify food site information before visiting.
  • Share feedback constructively.
  • Support others seeking help — without judgment.

9. Updates to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as FoodRadar evolves.

If we make significant changes, we'll notify users through the app or by email.

Your continued use of FoodRadar after updates means you accept the revised rules.
