Motorcycle Collision and Fire on Almaden Expressway

Summary: A full rescue response was dispatched to a motorcycle versus van collision on Almaden Expressway, north of Branham, in San Jose, California. The motorcycle was reported to be under the van, with unknown status of the rider. Upon arrival, Engine 13 found a small fire (10 by 20 feet) on the edge of the expressway and requested police for traffic control. Multiple engines and a water tender were dispatched to assist with fire suppression and potential rescue. Additional resources, including Engine 19, Engine 37, and Engine 17, were coordinated for support and overhaul. The fire was knocked down, and after approximately 30 minutes of overhaul, the incident was handled by Engine 13 and Engine 37, with other units canceled and returned to service.
