Unauthorized Rubbish Fire on Hilo-Nani Drive

Summary: Emergency services responded to a report of an unauthorized rubbish fire in the yard of a residence near 162061 Hilo-Nani Drive, in the I'ano-Law subdivision, Hawaii County. The reporting party indicated the fire was located before their address on the Amoka side of the road. Fire crews, including Company 10 and Volunteers 10 Delta, were dispatched. Upon arrival, the homeowner was observed attempting to extinguish the fire with water. Responders managed to control and extinguish a small, smoldering fire. Volunteers were stood down as the situation was brought under control.
